AM-Clad's antimicrobial U-Pods installed at temporary hospital, NHS Rainbow Hospital Deeside
AM-Clad's antimicrobial U-Pods being installed in a new 250-bed field hospital in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
AM-Clad has supplied 1800 linear metres of its freestanding U-Pod system to Deeside Leisure Centre in Flintshire, which is converting into a 250-bed temporary NHS field hospital serving North Wales.
The hygienic PVC surfaces of the U-Pod panels are easy to deep clean and will support the Infection Control measures within the new NHS Rainbow Hospital Deeside.
The AM-Clad team were on site to provide installation training to local contractors and they installed the first row of the modular, fast fit system to demonstrate the required configuration.
Deeside is just one of several infection control hospitals set up by the NHS to offer extra bed capacity during the coronavirus outbreak.
The flat-pack U-Pod system is ideal for creating bed segregation within the new hospital. It has no visible fixings which means there are no trip hazards around the edges. The flexible U-Pod system can also be adapted to create Intensive Care Units and Isolation Rooms within existing hospital wards. Doors and vision panels can be incorporated into the design.
AM-Clad also supplies IsoPod Isolation Pods which have interior walls and ceilings lined with 2.5mm AM-Clad Antimicrobial cladding sheets. Antimicrobial cladding actively kills germs and viruses and creates the highest possible standards of infection control in hygiene-critical environments.
